

On the outskirts of Logroño, where the Camino overlooks a busy highway, pilgrims have decorated a chain-link fence with crosses. Wherever it passes— through picturesque fields, majestic mountains, or cities—pilgrims have left their mark with handmade sculptures and graffiti, sometimes as a mark of faith, sometimes as a message for a friends walking behind them, and sometimes just as a sign that they have been there.
